Here’s an update about the PHP event coming up in September...

On September 13th we will be hosting concrete5’s 10th birthday party at a hotel in NW Portland. It was getting a little crowded the day before CascadiaPHP at University Place, so we decided to move across town and do a little pre-party on our own. There will be food and alcohol.

If you’re planning on being in PDX the night before the conference starts, we’d love to see you from 6pm-9pm on the roof deck here:

Some folks from our community will be staying at this hotel for that first night as well. It’s bit pricier than University Place, but If you’d like to join us there you can get 10% discount on rooms by mentioning “PortlandLabs” when you book the room.

The next day everyone will take the streetcar down to the conference and check in the University Place for Friday and Saturday. There’s going to be a lot of great sessions from luminaries in the PHP world and a lot of great general PHP collaboration & learning. At some point we will be doing an hour Show-n-Tell session where community members will talk about things they’ve built with concrete5. Our hope is to turn some attendees on to what is possible with concrete5 in that session. We’ll have a table in the exhibit space and our dev staff will be attending the conference sessions as well. There will be lots of opportunities to connect in the halls and during breaks.

Saturday the conference ends and we’ve hired a party bus to pick the concrete5 people up at 7pm for an adventure. We’ll head to one of Portland’s popular food cart pods where everyone can buy their own favorite meal for $20 or less. We’ll then pile you back on the bus and take you down to our new offices in Oregon City for a quick tour. We’ve done this bus bit before with clients, it is a good time. We should get you back to the hotel by 10pm Saturday.

That’s the plan as I know it today. If you haven't signed up yet, check out CascadiaPHP. If you’re thinking about coming but need a little extra push, jump in Slack, find Korvin and ask for the discount code. He’s got a special discount code he can still dole out to community members.

If you’re planning on attending the pre-party on the 13th or the party bus on the 15th, we’d really love an RSVP so we know how much food and booze to bring:
