Milwaukee Wisconsin Meetup

Hey guys. The Milwaukee Web Design Meetup group is having a CMS mega-panel next Tuesday at 6pm and a few of us from Trivera will be up there demonstrating (and likely defending) Concrete5 amongst 7 other CMSes and their respective fanboys/fangirls.

Here's the meetup link:

If anyone wants to come and show support for C5 or just see the various CMSes on display, feel free. There are 50 people out of 100 RSVP'd so far so there's plenty of room.

Heard rumblings of beer and food but nothing confirmed as far as we know.

Hey Jessica,

Thanks for the notice and invite. Won't be able to make it but I know you'll represent just fine. Good luck!

Here's hoping that the beer is plentiful.

Hi Jessica,

Sounds great-- we'll mention this on Friday's Totally Random and share the meetup link in the show's chat room. If you end up with any photos you'd like to share, we'd be thrilled to show them off on next week's broadcast. We'll send some karma points your way!

Thank you for the community support!
Here are some photo's of the event! Dave did a great job representing Concrete5!

A proprietary CMS gave a quick demo in roughly 167 clicks and 4 searches of how to add a page, content, and picture. Dave followed up with the C5 demo, and made him look foolish.

After all the Demo's were complete, (and very little to no bashing of other cms's)

I felt like the panel split in half Proprietary vs Foss. It was a great debate, about licensing, how the projects make money, community, support, and various other topics. On that note, I tried to understand 3 non-open source business models. I found it interesting of them isn't completely closed source, and you could purchase a license for the code.

Here are a few comments:

“It was a very good introduction to CMS. I would like to see additional meet-ups that featured a more in-depth discussion of the open source CMS choices. Please bring back the Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, MODX and Concrete5 people and give each one an hour to talk about their respective CMS. “

“The CMS Demo was a little informative. The MegaPanel was entertaining, but the bickering back and forth took away from the topic at hand. “

“Got introduced to some CMSs that I hadn't heard of before, and learned a thing or two about the ones I had. “

The Host finished off the event with “Concrete5 wins, they brought Stickers!” (No Joke)

Hi guys! I am trying to build my church/school's website with concrete 5. I quickly realized I have no idea what I'm doing! Was hoping to hire a concrete 5 "tutor" that can get me on the right path. Anyone in Milwaukee interested in earning a bit of extra cash for a good cause?

Let me know, thanks!
